Das 1814 geschriebene Trio D-Dur op. 13 Nr. 1 erschien 1815 erstmals – gemeinsam mit den Trios g-moll op. 13 Nr. 2 und F-Dur op. 13 Nr. 3 – als Stimmendruck im Verlag Breitkopf & Härtel. Es war nach den drei Duos op. 10a für 2 Flöten die zweite Serie von Flötenkompositionen Kuhlaus, die in diesem Leipziger Verlag herauskam.
Nachfolgedrucke erschienen noch vor 1828 bei dem französischen Verleger Aristide Farrenc und wurden von späteren französischen Verlegern übernommen. Eine Bearbeitung für 2 Flöten veranstaltete der Verlag Costallat als op. 13 bis. In neuerer Zeit erschienen sodann Nachdrucke bei Billaudot (Paris) und IMC (New York).
Eine wissenschaftlich-praktisch fundierte Neuausgabe wurde auch insofern notwendig, als alle bisherigen Ausgaben voller Fehler und Ungenauigkeiten sind, die z. T. auf den Erstdruck zurückgehen, was vor allem auch dadurch bedingt ist, dass jeweils ausschließlich wieder nur Stimmendrucke aufgelegt wurden. (So enthält bereits der Erstdruck des vorliegenden Trios ca.130 Fehler und Unstimmigkeiten zwischen den drei Stimmen, so dass dieser Breitkopf & Härtel-Druck des Jahres 1815 dem 1828 erfolgten Schott-Druck des Trios h-moll op. 90 in nichts nachsteht).
Die hier im Rahmen der „Uelzener Kuhlau-Edition“ vorgelegte Neuausgabe enthält deshalb erstmals in der Verlagsgeschichte neben den Einzelstimmen auch eine Partitur, so dass nunmehr ein einwandfreier Text gewährleistet ist. Über die Fehler und Unstimmigkeiten des Erstdrucks gibt der Revisionsbericht detaillierte Kunde.

The D major trio op. 13 Nr. 1, written in 1814, was published for the first time in 1815 together with the trios G minor op. 13 Nr. 2 and F major op. 13 Nr. 3 as a print part at the publishing house Breitkopf & Härtel. After the three duos op. 10a for two flutes it was the second series of flute compositions by Kuhlau, which was edited in this publishing house in Leipzig. Following prints were published even before 1828 by the French editor Aristide Farrenc and were taken over by later French editors. An arrangement for two flutes was carried out by the publishing house Costallat as op. 13 bis. In recent times followed prints then at Billaudot (Paris) and IMC (New York).
A scientific-practical based new edition was essential in this respect, that all previous editions are full of mistakes and inaccuracies, which can be put down to the first print. This is most of all caused through the fact, that each time only part prints were published. (The first print of the available trio contains already about 130 mistakes and inconsistencies between the three parts, so that this Breitkopf & Härtel print from 1815 does not show much difference to the Schott print of the trio B minor op.90 from 1828).
The here presented new edition within the framework of the “Uelzener Kuhlau-Edition” contains therefore for the first time in the history of Kuhlau editions beside solo parts also a score, so that now a faultless text is guaranteed. The revision report gives detailed information about the mistakes and inconsistencies of the first print.
