Vorwort
Die bereits 1987 erstmals erschienene vierstimmige Fassung der Mozart’schen Flötenkonzerte knüpft unmittelbar an die ebenfalls im Syrinx-Verlag erschienene vierstimmige Fassung der Orchesterprobespiel-Standardstellen an. Auch bei dieser Ausgabe geht es um die Anregung, durch eingehendes Ensemblestudium zu einem vertieften Verständnis der Ganzheit des mehrstimmigen Satzgefüges zu gelangen sowie hinsichtlich instrumentaler Klanglichkeit und rhythmischer Elastizität der orchestralen Wirklichkeit einen wesentlichen Schritt näherzukommen. Insofern steht die Vier-Flötenfassung pädagogisch wie auch aufführungspraktisch gewissermaßen in der Mitte zwischen der Flöte/Klavier- und der Flöte/Orchester-Fassung. Da die 1. Stimme mit der in der Ausgabe für Flöte und Klavier (Syrinx Nr. 22) enthaltenen Solostimme identisch ist, konnte sie in vorliegender Ausgabe ausgespart bleiben.

The first SYRINX-Verlag publication of the Mozart flute concertos arranged for flute quartet, published in 1987, was directly linked to the 4-part SYRINX-Verlag edition of the Orchesterprobespiel-Standardstellen. This new edition of the concertos is also concerned with achieving a deeper understanding of the different voices – in the context of the movement as a whole – through ensemble work. In addition, it is hoped that flutists will take a considerable step towards orchestral reality in terms of sound and rhythmic elasticity. From a pedagogic and performing point of view, this edition for flute quartet stands between the adaptation for flute & piano and the full orchestral edition. The solopart in the edition for flute quartet is identical to the solo-part in the edition for flute & piano (Syrinx Nr. 22), and is therefore not included in this publication.
