Vorwort

Die bereits 1987 erstmals erschienene vierstimmige Fassung des Mozart’schen Andantes KV 315 wird in dieser Ausgabe durch die kombinierte Edition Andante C-Dur KV 315 und Rondo D-Dur
KV 373 / Anh. 184 ersetzt. Auch bei dieser Ausgabe geht es um die Anregung, durch eingehendes Ensemblestudium zu einem vertieften Verständnis der Ganzheit des mehrstimmigen Satzgefüges zu gelangen sowie hinsichtlich instrumentaler Klanglichkeit und rhythmischer Elastizität der orchestralen Wirklichkeit einen wesentlichen Schritt näherzukommen. Insofern steht – wie schon bei den entsprechenden Ausgaben der Konzerte KV 313 und KV 314 – auch diese Vier-Flötenfassung pädagogisch wie auch aufführungspraktisch gewissermaßen in der Mitte zwischen der Flöte/Kavier- und der Flöte/Orchester-Fassung. Da auch hier die 1. Stimme mit der in der Ausgabe für Flöte und Klavier enthaltenen (Urtext-)Solostimme identisch ist, konnte sie in vorliegender Ausgabe ausgespart bleiben.

Preface

The Syrinx edition of the Andante KV 315 arranged for flute quartet from 1987, has been replaced with this edition containing the Andante C-major KV 315 and Rondo D-major KV 373 / Anh. 184. This edition appears with the intention of encouraging ensemble playing, to achieve a deeper understanding of the compositions as a whole, and to get closer to the orchestral reality both in the instrumental sense, and in terms of rhythmic elasticity. As such, this edition – and the corresponding edition of the Concertos KV 313 and KV 314 – can be viewed from a practical point of view as being at midpoint between the orchestral version, and the edition for flute and piano. As in the Syrinx edition of the concertos, this edition appears both as a version for flute quartet, and for flute and piano. The Urtext solo part is common to both, and is thus not included in the quartet version, which contains the score and parts II–IV.
